GEORGE CAVE CUP 2008/09
This
is probably the most difficult Competition to win, as the terms
of entry are that you have to be in the top 16 best disciplined
teams in the League to qualify. This Cup was introduced in
1990 - 1991 as a tribute to a president and staunch supporter of
the League, George Cave, a real football character. Who spent
a lifetime in football and supported the League in their becoming
affiliated to the Northumberland FA.
Although
Morpeth St George's won the first Final in 1990 - 1991, then again
in 1992 - 1993, first division clubs have generally struggled to
meet the criteria for entry and the majority of winners have come
from Clubs in the lower divisions. The current holders are Pegswood Ex.

FORMER
FAIR PLAY LEAGUE WINNERS
This
is probably the hardest league to win, as the as the winner is the Club
with the lowest number of cautions or dismissals in a season,
so every match counts.
First started in 1980 - 1981 and won by Morpeth Wansbeck Rovers.
A remarkable record was set by Morpeth St George's in 1985 - 1986,
they won the First Division in 1985 - 1986 with no cautions or
dismissals whatsoever, then went on to win the Fair Play League
the following season, something no other team has managed to do.
In addition to the glory of winning the Fair Play League, there
is the added advantage of financial gain, as the League and sponsors
provide a fair sum of money to the Competition.
